How It Works
Local volunteers pull healthy dogs from shelters, place them with foster families, and prepare them for transport to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue in New York.
The program began in June 2016 from an existing long-distance, high-volume dog transport effort.
Underdog Express has sent more than 4,700 dogs to New York.
Foster families are needed for each dog for at least two weeks before transport.
The program has received support from Best Friends, the Buster Coleman Foundation, and PEDIGREE Foundation.
