The P.E.T.S. Chain-Off 100th Build

This two-day build starts at 9 AM on Saturday, August 26th and will be completed at 9 AM on Saturday, September 2nd (Weather will postpone our builds, check our Facebook for the latest details and last-minute changes).

Are you ready to put in some volunteer hours, or maybe you or someone you know could come see the value of community first hand? Come meet our incredible Chain-Off volunteers at 1515 Taylor Ave. There’s plenty of work for everyone as we’re putting in 13 posts the first Saturday, and a fence the second Saturday! We’ll happily devote these two days to making sure these wonderful dogs don’t have to spend any more time tethered in their yard. Let’s make #freedominthefalls a reality for these dogs, and have a great time doing it! We’ll see you at 9 AM at 1515 Taylor on either Saturday!

P.E.T.S. Underdog Express and Kelly’s Dogs

Did you catch the transport videos on our Facebook page? You can see all the dogs leaving Wichita Falls and then arriving for adoption in Dewitt, New York!

Underdog Express pulls dogs who have run out of time in local kill shelters and puts them up with amazing local foster families who help with their behavior and some light training to prepare them for a trip to New York. In New York, 100% of the 1200+ dogs we have sent from Wichita Falls have been adopted within an average of nine days!

From our most recent group, a special dog arrived in New York – Dart, a former small-town street dog who used to break into the local feed store and rip into dog food bags to eat. She could never be captured, and ended up being shot with a tranquilizer dart. She ran under a vacant house and stayed there, sedated, for 2 days. Then when she came out of the only exit, dazed, she found herself caught in a live trap that was pushed up to the opening. Animal Control Officer Hollie Hawkins Larance fought to save her, and she ended up at one of out Underdog Express volunteers where she gave birth to three healthy boy pups. The puppies traveled to Helping Hounds when they were old enough, and one of them, Walker, was adopted by a beautiful young woman, Kelly, and her husband. Kelly tragically lost her life just a week later. Along with Dart, there were 12 more dogs on that truck whose costs were financed through donations made in Kelly’s honor, from people all the way from Texas to New York. Stay tuned as we find out what the future holds in store for Dart in New York.

These are Kelly’s Dogs. All of their fees were donated in honor of Kelly.

The First Ever Dog Days of Summer

The regional water park invites dogs and their owners to splash together for the first ever Dog Days of Summer on Saturday, September 9 from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Summer is not over at Castaway Cove Waterpark. It’s the first time Castaway Cove is inviting guests to bring their furry, four-legged friends to the water park. And a portion of the proceeds will benefit P.E.T.S.!

Dogs and their owners will be able to swim down Nellie’s Rolling River, splash around in Shipwreck Beach and play in Buccaneer Bay. The cost for the Dog Days of Summer event is $25 for a family of up to four people and up to two dogs. Guests are required to complete a waiver which can be downloaded here:

Partners for this event include PetSmart, Two Sisters Bakery, LLC, Texas Pit Crew, Emily’s Legacy Rescue and the Humane Society of Wichita County. Dan and Cindy’s Pet Salon will be at the waterpark to provide free nail trimmings for dogs attending the event.

Texoma Gives

The Giving is Underway!

With prize categories, matching money, and the generous donations of local foundations and businesses, there’s not a better way to give to P.E.T.S. right now! The donation period began on August 14 and it all ends with the big day of giving on September 7th, 2017! The more donations we have come in the better chance we have of winning some of the larger prizes available for the lucky nonprofits participating!

The lives of area dogs and cats would not be saved and improved without you. Every dollar you give makes sure dogs and cats in our area have homes, basic medication, and better lives. Join us in making sure even more dogs and cats are saved with Texoma Gives!

Click here to visit, donate, and bookmark our Texoma Gives donation page.

As always, thank you for taking the time to care and trusting us with your precious furry babies,
